A new report issued by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) mentioned that small businesses face complex red tape and high costs when they try to use the immigration system to fill a vacancy. The report also shows that more than 75% of small business owners had difficulty hiring workers over the past five years due to skills and labor shortages. Hence, the CFIB urges the government to make changes to the immigration system to help employers connect with qualified foreign workers when they cannot find suitable candidates in their own community.
